Rebecca Durant receiving her prize from the friendly staff at The Springfield Food Co-op.
The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the thirty-three businesses that participated in the first annual Springfield Holiday Local Loyalty Program! The concept was to distribute stamp cards with $100 values, so that shoppers could receive stamps in exchange for dollars spent at any of the participating businesses. Each time a shopper filled a card, they had the opportunity to enter it in any of the thirty-three raffles being offered by the merchants. This being the first year we attempted the program, we weren’t sure how many cards we were going to need, and we were amazed to discover that we distributed over 7,300 blank stamp cards to the participating businesses! Each merchant collected completed stamp cards for their raffles, and in the end, we tallied up all the completed cards valued at more than $244,100! And that’s not counting all the partially completed cards that folks also had started. We couldn’t be more excited about how great things went this first time around, and we certainly hope the program gave our wonderful businesses a bit of a boost!
We’d like to give a shout-out to Julie Jones of the Springfield Food Co-op for sparking the idea and having the persistence and energy to get people excited about the possibility. We also couldn’t have done it without the help of the Springfield Marketing Collaborative Committee – a group of local Chamber businesses with great ideas and lots of team spirit! We received so much wonderful feedback from the participating businesses as well as the folks doing the shopping – it was fun to see everyone getting excited, and the program was a truly fantastic way to generate comradery and community pride. We were so thrilled to bring this fun new program to the Springfield area, and we were blown away by the enthusiasm of local shoppers – thank you to everyone who got involved and assisted us in the collective endeavor to keep dollars local this past holiday season!
In addition to the thirty-three raffle winners, we also had a bonus raffle thanks to Dan Chapman of DEC Tech Computer! Dan’s business recently joined the Chamber, and while we didn’t connect soon enough for DEC Tech to be printed on the stamp cards and participate fully in the program, we were so impressed with his interest to become involved that we thought it would be fun to do a bonus raffle – Dan offered to provide 2 hours of tech service or tutoring – a $130 value! Also, Springfield Cinemas 3, in addition to awarding a $50 gift card to their winner also gave a movie pass to every person who entered their raffle!
